3 Powerful Lessons From The Life Of Daniel

Many of us think that the prophets of old who had powerful and awesome lives had no discipline, this is not the truth.  Ezekiel, Daniel, Elijah, and Moses are good examples of this. The Bible speaks about how they fasted for extended periods of time and they had spiritual disciplines.

Even other prophets like Samuel, Isaiah, Zechariah had routines, they did not receive revelation randomly. They received revelation, prophecy and spiritual insight through their disciplines, to be more specific, their spiritual disciplines.

They were not random nor did they have random spiritual lives. They had very disciplined spiritual lives. Let’s look into the life of Daniel in a little bit more depth.

1# The life of the prophet Daniel

We think to ourselves that God is randomly giving people the Spirit of Prophecy and the power to move in signs and wonders.  This simply is not the case when we studied the Scriptures. The Bible consistently teaches that those who move in such power and anointing have spiritual disciplines and they live disciplined lives.  Many of us overlook this fact.

When we take a look and study Daniel Chapter 1, we find that the prince of the eunuchs was told to give Daniel and his three friends the kings food for three years, but Daniel refused this and asked if he and his three friends could be fed with vegetables instead.

Daniel 1:5 And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so

nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

Daniel 1:12   Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse (Vegetables) to eat, and water to drink.

We then find that the prince of the eunuchs removed the King’s meat or food from their diet and gave them vegetables.

Now, when we study this, we find that Daniel and his three friends were given vegetables for three years and eating vegetables for three years is a powerful discipline.

Daniel was blessed with insights and wisdom and understanding due to this discipline and consecration.

What we need to take note of here is that Daniel and his friends were doing a three year Partial fast.  All they ate were vegetables and all they drank was water. They drank no wine nor did they eat any meat.

I can almost guarantee that you’ve never seen that before.

Daniel 1:17  As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

In the Scripture above, we see that Daniel was a dream interpreter.  He received this gift from God through his spiritual discipline, it was not random.

After three years of eating vegetables, King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and guess what!!? Daniel could interpret it.  Why?? Because, through his spiritual discipline ~God was able to move through Daniel and revealed His glory, not only to those at the time of Daniel, but to all of us who would come after.

The Glory that was revealed was one of the greatest end time prophecies of all time.  King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream is in Daniel chapter 2.

2# Daniels Prayer Discipline

Did you know that Daniel had a prayer discipline that brought Power, Success and the Favour of God into his life?

In Daniel chapter 6, we read about Daniel in the lion’s den and how there were many people in seats of power throughout the Medes and Persian empire.  These leaders or prince rulers wanted Daniel dead, so they tricked the King.

Daniel 6:7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

Even though Daniel knew about this new law that was created, he still prayed anyway, why?  Because of Routine.

Daniel 6:10  Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

I want you to take note that According to the above Scripture, Daniel prayed three times a day, everyday (aforetime).

Daniel’s prayer routine was what saved him from the lions.  Prayer routines are Powerful as in the time of crisis, angelic intervention is already primed and ready to act on your behalf.

3# Spiritual Randomness

One of the biggest problems with the Church today is spiritual randomness.

Spiritual randomness is where you pray for 10mins today and maybe 3mins a few days later, or you read 5 chapters of the Bible today and then you don’t pick the Bible up for 2 weeks.

You will never live a powerful spiritual life in spiritual randomness.  We have to go from spiritual randomness to spiritual routines.

We need to have a spiritual routine like Jesus, Daniel and David, for example.  Not only should we study what they said, we need to also study their spiritual routines.

You see, going from spiritual randomness to spiritual routine will then birth spiritual results.  Everyone wants the power, anointing, the signs and wonders appearing in their life, but most of us do not have a spiritual routine.

This is why only a few believers are actually walking in the will of God has said throughout His Word.

Conclusion

Brothers and sisters, it is imperative to get a spiritual routine asap, or suffer not achieving spiritual success.

Love this. Very powerful indeed. I was given a task by God to start getting back into my studies . Deeply. He wants me to have knowledge because Ive been working on something that has been a stale mate. So Do what Daniel did and fast and pray.
