3 Simple Ways To Stay On Fire For God

How to stay on Fire for God, must be one of the biggest questions I get asked regularly as a Bible teacher.

Staying on Fire for God and understanding the things of God is so important in the time we are living in. if you are not on fire for God, you can easily become a casualty of an ancient war between the Kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of darkness.  As a side note, the kingdom of darkness is fighting a lost cause.

We must understand how to keep our lamps topped up with oil and how to keep that oil burning at all times.  The days we are living in are wicked and there is so much evil being pushed onto us from different angles on a daily basis, whether it be through social media, TV, video games, billboards ads, etc. These are the types of things that can make you become Cold towards God and the things of God.

Let’s get into this article on how to stay on Fire for God.

#1 Iron Sharpeneth Iron “Proverbs 27:17”

Who are you hanging around with?  Who are your friends? Who is influencing you?   These are some of the questions you need to ask yourself because if your friends are worldly, guess what? It’s only a matter of time before you’ll start becoming worldly.

Being around worldly people is a sure way to quench the Spirit of God in your life.   Doing worldly activities is also another way you can quench the Spirit.

When I first got saved in 1996, I had a small group of friends that were on fire for God. The strange thing was that their names were Paul, John and Simon, lol.  They were some brothers I knew from church.

They were hungry for the things of God and guess what? I was hungry for the things of God, why? Well, that’s because I was always around them and we hang out with each other regularly outside of the church.

They were always speaking about the Bible but I didn’t know that much at that time.  I became hungry to know more of the Word so that I could keep up with the conversations that they are having.

They would always speak about prayer and things of the Spirit.   They were truly sharpening me. Being around them increased the anointing and the fire of God that was upon my life, why? Because I started to seek God daily and in doing so, my walk with Him and my understanding of Him exploded…

This also goes for you.  Are your friends or Associates on Fire for God? Are they hungry for the things of God? If not, you need to get some new friends because you’ll become like them after a short time.

I have some friends who only talk about God and the Bible.  Obviously they speak about other things but for 70% of their conversations are always centered around the things of God, not football, or work, or their problems, or their trials.

They don’t say, “Bro, pray for me, I’m going through,”  they always speak about the power of God and His presence and in them doing so, it encourages and  Stokes the fire of God that burns within me.

2# Turn Up Your Spiritual Activities

If you are one of those Christians who believe that reading one verse of Scripture or praying for one minute every day is enough to be on Fire for God, you’ve got another thing coming.

In these end days in which we live, we will never be able to survive spiritually on that diet of spiritual activity.  It’s time to LEVEL UP!!.

If you truly want to be on fire for God, you’re going to have to read at least Three plus chapters of the Bible every day.  If you’re serious about being on Fire for God and being filled with the anointing and the power of the Holy Spirit, you’re going to have to pray for 20 minutes minimum per day.

You don’t have to if you don’t want to, but I’m just warning you that if you are trying to live a victorious life, you can’t do it with low spiritual disciplines.   You cannot have victory over Satan by just reading 1 verse of Scripture every day, it’s just not going to happen.

If we take Jesus as our example throughout all of the Gospels, you always see Christ quoting many verses from the Old Testament whenever He was addressing the Sadducees, Pharisees, and Scribes.

He knew the Old Testament inside out and because of this, He was able to overcome Satan and all of his temptations and the continual bombardment of questions from the Pharisees and Sadducees.

In him understanding and knowing the Scriptures, He knew and understood who He was.   That’s a secret right there, to know the Scriptures is to know who you are.

3# Become More Holy

The Bible says, “Be Holy for I am Holy'” 1 Peter 1:16.  The Bible also says that without holiness no man will be able to see God.

You see, the more you separate yourself from the world, the more on Fire for God you will become.   The more holy and sanctified you become, the more you will be able to see God. The more you can see God, the more on fire you will become because you will see Him and understand Him more.

This is the reason why Satan is always trying to keep us in the flesh because he knows that the more we are in the flesh, the more the fire of God in our lives will be extinguished.

This is the reason why we need to cut down on lots of worldly activities whether it is gaming or watching Netflix, or doing other worldly activities.   We need to keep it to a minimum or keep it in check. I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with gaming or watching Netflix, but too much of it is not a good thing.

So we have to turn up those spiritual levels.

One Last Thing

There is this thing which I call “lazy Christianity”.  This is when you expect someone else to walk this walk with God for you.

Lazy Christians want someone else to read the Bible for them, like the Pastor, Teacher or some other Christian leader.  We expect someone else to pray for us when we should be praying for ourselves and others. We expect our leaders to read the Bible for us when it should be us reading it for ourselves.
